I have just create my mini online photo album website. You can click here to see some of my photos. Most of them are either taken by Olympus EP-2 or Minolta X-700.
Thanks for viewing
I have finally manage to upload this video that i tested using hand-held. So pardon me for the unstable and not so sharp video as i realize that i was in the Auto mode which i wasn’t able to adjust the focusing unless i am in manual.
went to Hairloom & Caramel at Shaw Tower for a Sat afternoon coffee. Lucky me that it was my first time there and it is open. I have heard and pass-by before and will see that it is always close. I spent quite a while inside there on there cakes and enjoying the ambient of the place. Do drop by if you can. Its a colorful and fun places to hang out!
Pardon for the compression of this video. I just gotten this off YouTube website. Many of today’s consumers want a camera with the professional still image quality of a digital single lens reflex (DSLR) and high-definition (HD) video in a compact body that’s as easy to use as a point-and-shoot like the Canon 7D and the 5DMK II.
Thanks to the image sensor found in Olympus PEN that is approximately eight times larger than those in standard point-and-shoot cameras consumer is able to achieve that in a smaller and affordable body. (Not to be compare with pro-DSLR)
I am not a big fan of video but to have it within the same camera is a plus! I have tried taking few videos like concert, wedding etc but have not process them yet.
It has been awhile since i update this blog. Have been really busy and down with minor flu. However i am excited by the available download update for Olympus PEN firmware update!
I just update mine EP-2 last night to ver 1.1. A few minor findings before i doze off from medication.
1. The EVF is better in the way that when i use the EVF for shot, i could view the photo on the LCD instantly via the playback button. Instead of the previous step having the need to depress the EVF on/off button first, then follow by the playback button to view the image.
2. The AF speed doesnt seems to have much impact on the 20mm panny but heard that there is drastic improvement to the 17mm and zoom lens.
Release information from the Official Olympus website.
Auto Focus Performance
This update improves camera AF performance when shooting both stills and videos with the E-P1, E-P2 and E-PL1 cameras when using any Micro Four Thirds or Four Thirds lens. Auto Focus Lock time when shooting stills is improved by 15%. Auto Focus tracking accuracy when shooting movies is also improved.
Viewfinder/LCD Simultaneous Playback Function
This upgrade also brings additional display functionality to the E-P2 and E-PL1 cameras when fitted with the VF-2 Electronic Viewfinder. Photographers using these combinations can now view menu and recorded images on the LCD while the VF-2 Electronic Viewfinder is in use.
Movie-Still-Compatible (MSC) Lens Compatibility
This update also ensures that like the E-PL1, the E-P1 and E-P2 camera models are fully compatible with and able to take advantage of two recently announced and soon-to-reach market lenses; the M. Zuiko Digital™ ED 9–18mm F4.0–5.6 and M. Zuiko Digital ED 14–150mm F4.0–5.6 lenses. Olympus is designating these two lenses as MSC, or Movie-Still-Compatible. They are optimized for shooting high-definition video with accurate and silent autofocus.
Olympus has announced a firmware update for all three of its PEN Series cameras (The E-P1, E-P2 and E-PL1). To be released on April 22, the latest updates promise faster auto focusing speeds and improvements when using the recently announced 9-18mm lens. There are also improvements and bug fixes for individual cameras. The company has also announced a stand-alone Digital Camera Update software application exclusively for camera and lens firmware updates.
Firmware details:
All PEN models (E-P1, E-P2 and E-PL1)
Additional functions for E-P1 & E-P2
Additional functions for E-P2 and E-PL1 only
Improvements with M.ZUIKO 9-18mm (all PEN models)

Press Release from Olympus:
Hamburg, 15 April 2010 – Olympus is to enhance the performance of its groundbreaking PEN cameras with a new firmware update. The update speeds up auto-focus for photos and movies across the whole PEN range. The new firmware will be available as a download from Olympus websites from April 22, 2010, 3:00 am CET.
Now users can enjoy fast auto focussing speed in still image shooting with all Olympus PEN cameras, E-P1, E-P2, E-PL1. For the E-P1 and E-P2, the update also makes continuous auto-focus tracking in movie mode as fast and accurate as on the new E-PL1. So all three cameras can harness the full potential of Olympus’ new ‘MSC’ (Movie and Still Compatible) lenses designed for fast, smooth and silent auto-focus – the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 14-150mm 1:4.0-5.6 and the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 9-18mm 1:4.0-5.6.
What’s more, the update enables E-P2 and E-PL1 users to display the menu and images recorded on the LCD when the VF-2 electronic viewfinder is attached to the camera.
